Albatros - Dec. 1 at 5:00 pm

Our tenth day at sea. We have motored the last 20 hours or so, as the wind had died. Since noon we are sailing again, with 9kn of wind. Our expectation is that the wind will pick up considerably today or tonight, so we enjoy the calmness while it lasts.

Yesterday we prolonged a shift by two hours and set our clocks back by the same time. This way, all shifts still start at the same time as before, but we are closer to the actual time.

Tonight the twice postponed halfway dinner will finally happen. We had to postpone once because other food had to be eaten before it wouldn't be edible anymore, and the second time because we forgot to take the beef out of the freezer. We'll have filet of beef tonight, and that will be a welcome treat - although dinner has been fine during all of the trip so far.

Also, we tried out the salt water pump in the fore ship to take showers on deck, and that works decidedly better than pulling up buckets of water. It will no doubt have a positive effect on the mood of the crew and the smell of the crew's quarters.

So, all in all, nothing really is happening.

1123 miles to Saint Lucia. With good winds, less than 5 days. With current winds, that could become 2 weeks.
