Skyelark of London - Day 9 - Half way across

Day 9
After a gentle night's sailing it was decided that today is halfway to St
Lucia day. By 3pm this afternoon we have 1435 miles on the log with 1426
miles left to go, good enough for us. For Dan this could only mean one thing
for breakfast. A full English breaky appeared on cue and we even saved some
for Mike who was catching up on some snoozing at the time.

A fairly active day followed with laundry being top of most people's lists.
Boat is now looking like a Chinese laundry with guardwires festooned with
various bits of underwear and tshirts. Genny and watermaker have been
working hard to replenish our water tanks, but otherwise at this halfway
stage we are looking good with clean clothes, clean sheets and the all
important chocolate drawer restocked. Sadly tonic supplies are dwindling a
little, so who knows what will be produced for the final happy hours as we
get closer to St Lucia....

Good sailing this afternoon with a freshening breeze producing good speeds
in the right general direction. Hoping to see some more ARC boats around -
it has been a bit quiet lately on the boat front apart from one imposter
last night - a non ARC boat that came within about a mile of us, before
being lost astern.
Due to our large tasty breakfast, we skipped lunch in anticipation of
dinner. A Dan special pre cooked lasagne went down extremely well with
homemade garlic bread courtesy of Tony. All washed down with a bottle of
fine Moet in celebration.

A slow day on the fishing front. Becky's lure took the morning shift but
sadly no bites and during the afternoon Mike's "bird" was deployed again but
to no avail - they can't both be allowed out together as it leads to
arguments and entanglements. Maybe tomorrow something will jump on the line.
As I write, David and Tony are preparing themselves for their night shift,
Bex and Dave are chasing pots and pans round the galley as they tackle the
washing up, Simon, Mike and Dan are enjoying the sunset with a brew (and
trying to decide if tonight's sunset is the best so far). I think I'll join
them.

Em
