DAY 7 ARC

Yippee stil first in our class!! but still a long way to go and last night we passed the 1000 mile mark.

A fairly sleepless night last night due to boom banging and one of the guys left the cutlery drawer open so had to get up to close it. Up at 5.00 hours for my watch. A nice cloud built up and we did a good speed for awhile before the wind died down again. We had not goose winged for the night which was a shame as we were heading far too far north and trying to do the alterations to keep as south as possible but to no avail. I tried to get Jonathan up to say we needed to goose wing and head south but he was far too tired and didn’t appear until 7 a.m. He was then in energetic mode and we poled out the large genoa and headed south rapidly at first until the wind died. During the morning we hoisted the ‘Pink Panther’ which helped our speed as we headed south west.
Before heading back to my bunk I made a large fresh fruit salad out of fresh pineapple, mango, persimmons, apple and orange with a squeeze of lime.

The idea is to get as South as possible as the wind hole is appearing on the 20o line.
I had a lazy morning catching up on sleep and finishing my book. This afternoon we, yet again, pulled the head board off the bunk to lubricate all the rudder gear but still a persistent speak in heavier seas, just can’t get to the bottom of what is causing it. Very annoying as it is right by my head when I am trying to sleep…..

We have just caught another small Dorado, which fought hard but would be lovely to be able to catch a Tuna. Tonight I am cooking a Green Chicken curry very easy as I had made it in advance so all it needed was heating up.

19.57 hours, It has been just announced we have passed into the Tropics over the Tropic of Cancer.
As a crew we are all getting on very well together with lots of banter, teasing and fun, jokes and stories.
