Widago - CV Leg (3): Kite @ Night

As we come to the end of day 3 on this leg to Cape Verde, I can say with (some, not great) confidence that the worst of my initial seasickness is in the wake. And I mean that figuratively, as I am happy to report that chumming has not occurred - so far. Perhaps that is part of the reason we have not had any action on the fishing front. Looks like chicken again for dinner tomorrow.
Seas and wind continue to become better organized as we find ourselves working closer towards CV. We spent most of the daylight hours running downwind with our white sails up, even wing on wing for awhile. The winds finally shifted and laid down enough for us to launch the big blue Whomper. Of course this was after sunset, in the dark, but our young crew performed brilliantly, popping the chute without a hitch in record speed.
We are still sailing with one man down as William has been waylaid with fever the past two days. Nothing that can't be managed with Tylenol, ginger ale, chicken soup, and rack time. Hopefully, tomorrow we will be back to a fully staffed crew. As for tonight, Ahab, bless his heart, is snuggled up on the catbird seat behind me in case the parasailor decides to fold in on itself and requires hand steering. There are some things I just can't do - yet.
