If you have been tracking us on the the Yellow Brick you will know that we arrived at St .Georges in Bermuda Thursday night. It is now Saturday. If the last few miles were annoyingly tedious due to a head wind of 15 to 20 kts the last few hundred yards were terrifying! The entrance into St Georges harbour is through a very narrow gap in the reef and rocky shore called Town Cut. You have to radio ahead for permission to go through because it is too narrow for more than boat to pass at a time. None of the buoys marking the channel into the cut were lit and it was pitch dark in the dead of  a moonless night. We had observers posted forward - thank goodness otherwise we would have hit several of the, very large, channel buoys. Nobody else seemed to be coming through a night and we now understand why. Anyway we made it. Having dropped anchor at midnight we had a cup of hot chocolate and went to bed. Nobody needed rocking to sleep!!
Bermuda is very beautiful with an ambiance reminiscent, for those of us old enough to remember, of 1950's England. It is very clean with neat, tidy houses. All have clean white roofs for collection of rainwater because there is no water underground here. There are colourful flowers everywhere. Tonight is Pirate Party Night!!!!
Here is a selection of photos taken during the voyage from BVI to Bermuda.
