Celebrate - Night Watch

NIGHT WATCH by Jay Ailworth

Above myriad stars shimmer, sparkle and twinkle on the ocean below,
Soon the silver moon rises extinguishing most of the star glow.
Even the moon cannot beat a growing cloud cover,
In defeat it disappears from it's celestial hover.
Now all that is left is a black ebon sea,
Leaving one's mind open to all sorts of fantasy.
Between ocean and sky there is no edge,
Sometimes it is very much like sailing off a ledge.
Some would say this is a good time for inner reflection,
However I am not one for deep introspection.
I scan the horizon for telltale ships lights
While mostly thinking of family and friends during the long lonely nights.

Until next time...
