It's been a dramatic day at sea.
For starters the fruit hammock has had major fatalities - much to the
distress of fair maiden Kat. Despair was in the air as the orange casualties
laid in pain on the saloon bunk. Don't all panic at once ... nothing that a few
giant cable ties can't fix!! We are happy to announce that the luxury hammock
hotel is up and swinging once more.
Main course followed soon after - who would have thought nine cheese and
ham sandwiches could be such an ordeal! Two hours later the two kilos of rotten
diced pork - apparently not so vacum packed as we thought - had been evacuated
from the fridge along with all its delicious juices. Never before has bacon,
philidelphia, margarine and cheese been shown so much love an affection - each
one individually washed, antibacked and polished - all repacked in the
fridge.
In the flurry of fridge decontamination we had a minor disaster - BOB BOB
BOB - bucket overboard. The stench of rotten pork was obviously too much for
bucket NO1 out of 4 and alas it is now somewhere in the depths of the Atlantic.
It was a loss felt by all...
While gardening and spring cleaning we do actually happen to be sailing
too. In fact it would be criminal at this point not to meantion the beautiful
moments on deck that we have experienced. Last night was a highlight - screaming
along at 7-8 knots beam reaching to the stars. They were so low in the sky it
almost felt we could touch them, and they were easily confused with the four
other rally yacht tricolours we still had sight of.
The maidens have now split into three watch groups.
The Wind Chasers: maidens Amanda, Linda and Dawn.
The Star Gazers: maidens Sarah, Kat and Marlys
The Diamonds in the Rough: Nikki, Boyd and JC
The windchasers, true to their name, started a speed competition last night
in the blissful conditions and set a record of 8.3 knots which they were
confident was going to win. Unfortunately for them the Star Gazers smashed the
record with 8.8 knots 22 minutes into the watch - clearly not taking this
seriously or anything! The Diamonds in the rough haven't brought any competition
to the table... just yet ... although while pouring pork juice overboard they
did invite a school of Dolphins to play.
Checking out for the day now to enjoy sailing Hot Stuff in the warm
sunshine and fresh northerly winds. A moment to remember while listening to the
sound of The Police - although we haven't sent our message in a bottle
yet...
With lots of love to our friends and family tonight, the nine fair maidens
on Hot Stuff.
