Monomotapa - 26 November

Monomotapa 26 November

During the night, we broke one our genackers. It dropped into the sea and acted as a huge drift anchor. That created some intense work on the fore-deck in the dark. After some struggle we managed to get it up on deck and get the regular genoa out. The wind has between 10 and 20 knots during the last 24 h. We have covered 320 nm during our first 28 hours and we still have 2367 nm to go :-)

We run the water maker today and some of us took a well needed shower. The water pump also broke down but where replaced by a new one. The crew is slowly drifting into the life on board. One of the hardest things to adopt to is the irregular sleeping patterns and some of us are sleepy all the time.

This night we had a close contact with another boat. It didn't have AIS so it didn't show on our computer. It shows that we have to be alert during the night watches.

The animal life is sparse but yesterday we passed close by a sea turtle.
