Raggy Doll - Day 1, 4th June - off to Falmouth we go

Nature decided that Bayona was off the cards for now, we were headed for Falmouth!
This morning at 0900, twenty yachts of varying sizes lined up at the start line, a wiggly line anyway! We were off. The journey to Falmouth was very mixed, we managed to get caught up in a squall which meant we had to reef down, as with full sail Raggy Doll was overpowered. Andrew shouted instructions with a couple of Anglo Saxon words thrown in, as he held the wheel keeping her on course, while Jane and I pulled, palmed and winched various halyards and sheets (ropes for the lay people reading) I cannot describe it as pleasant, but I did get away with not requiring a sick bucket! AJ (Aunty Jane for the non family members) was in a much better state than me and kept Andrew and myself fed and watered the whole trip. Andrew remained on the wheel for the majority of the trip which is physically and mentally tough. After roughly 5 hours, I finally succumbed and took Buccastem (anti sickness) which then knocked me out and I had to sleep, finally coming too and able to steer for a short while. We crossed the race finish line at Falmouth harbour entrance just after Yacht Blue Monde, we were then given a berth at Pendennis Marina where we were welcomed by Charlie and Thomas, both with big grins. They helped tie us on, which was much appreciated. After washing the boat down and clearing up we went to find dinner, on our walk to get out of the Marina we met up with the crews of Mischief and Acarius, not sure whether we were all disorientated by the sailing but finding the way out proved more tricky then the crystal maze! Finally at 2100 we found a Pizza Express for dinner which included a well earned beer for Andrew and a bottle of pink wine for Jane and I (No, only one, we shared)
