Beltana II - Day 3 events

The wind continues to blow 12-15 knots and we are barreling along at 8-8.5 knots ourselves with the wind 100 degrees on our beam. Very nice sailing conditions indeed. We still have all three sails up trimmed to perfection and we have passed two other yachts this morning!
The oven is now operating very well, and the pizza is about to go in.....

Let me introduce Johnny Martin. Johnny was the last crew member to commit to this journey, but really we was waiting ages for me to say yes I would like you to come along for the ride. Thanks Johnny.  Johnny has been appointed as the ships medic for the voyage as he has skills in stitching people up and knows lots about drugs (he can also cure a tooth ache or two).  This role he takes very seriously, and has checked out all the drugs I shipped on board and quizzed us mercilessly about what drugs we are all taking and what we could suffer from over the next three weeks. More importantly Johnny is keen as mustard to sail and learn all he can – he has just completed every sailing course he possibly could  before he left Australia and has come away with the sea survival course ticket, his radio operators license and his RYA day Skippers qualification as well as already completing a competent crew course.  And yes the way he handle Beltana I think he is quite competent!  Even more importantly Johnny is a keen fisherman and not only did he bring a brand new fishing rod on board imported from Aussie in his excess baggage bill, but he then kitted us out with many new lures and other fancy stuff so we can catch a fish or two! Alas he has trawled for a day and a half with a lovely squid, but nay has fish been foolish enough to gobble it up! Sushi here we come.
