Mustique - Day 4 - Third Blog a swell time was had by all

The wind and swell continued with everyone a little subdued as we found our sea-legs, but we were soon back on form as it also allowed us to make excellent progress (perhaps 200 miles plus). So all the talk of wishing we’d packed our Christmas presents and a tree were banished today and we once again started moving our thoughts back to the arrival date sweepstakes.

In spite of these conditions Finn continues to amaze in the kitchen (tuna sandwiches and pasta yesterday and looking forward to cheese and ham toasties today). Dave has finally got his fishing rod out today and almost caught a fish with his first cast of the day but was unable to cling onto it as I am told the swell meant the line tension got too slack - a likely excuse!). Stef continues to react swiftly to make any unhappy flappy sail become happy again. Dressed in black from head to toe he resembles the man from the Cadbury’s Milk Tray advert, for which we promise to show him on Youtube when we reach St Lucia as this is somewhat lost in translation. He is also famous for describing tea without sugar as diet tea and that with sugar as regular tea, much as you would with describing which coke you wanted at a restaurant. This is something I will try when doing the tea run back in the office and see if it works!

Carol is doing a fine job of understanding the fast talking British accents. We have converted her to English tea and we plan to get her fluent in cockney rhyming slang before our arrival. We have not seen another ship since last night and we now seem very much alone out here. Although the diligent watch-keeping of Tom and ‘Livi’ meant that a couple of vessels which didn’t show up on AIS didn’t go unnoticed while the rest of us slept soundly.

We turned our clocks back an hour last night (6pm miraculously became 5pm) and I know Anders for one was happy to hear that not only does this event get celebrated with a beer but that it will also happen 3 more times before we get to St. Lucia. Dave and I managed to resist so keeping our tee total regime at least for another day.

Signing off until my turn again.

Mark
