Jasmine - Day 2. Settling in .

Today dawned calm and fair.
We had carried the spinnaker all through the night and ghosted along nicely keeping company with some big boats .
Doing watch at night in warm weather is a far more pleasant experience than hammering across the Bay of Biscay in 12 degrees .We worked our way south and towards the African shore in the light northeasterly breeze .Morning arrived and the sunrise was very beautiful .
During the morning the breeze lightened further giving the opportunity for all to relax an enjoy the scene. Around 1100 we were visited by a school of dolphins. They
were close to fifty in the group.
They jumped and swam alongside in the clear water and swam just under the bows for at least half an hour. They swam in groups of threes and fours and turned on their
sides as if to study us giving us the time to note their colouring and identify them as rough tooth dolphins,a dolphin that is rare in these waters according to our
book on atlantic sealife.
The wind lightened and almost disappeared, then returned but still light and in the east.
A glorious sunset followed and swiftly darkness fell. The sky being clear the stars were brilliant and those not starting watch still remained on deck to enjoy the
view.
