Exocet Strike - progress 21/22 September 2016

Hello readers
Sailed all day today, plenty of wind, but had to gybe to keep on course. Wind is now dropping, hopefully it will stay enough to sail.
Stella caught a lovely Mahi Mahi, aka Dolphin fish. Spectacular Yellow with a dark blue dorsal fringe, and mottled blue spots. Lovely eating fish, one of my favourites, white flesh, and very tender. Apparently one of the most plentiful and fast growing fish around this area! When reeling them in for the first time you think you've caught a yellow carrier bag they are so bright!
Interesting morning. On my watch Stella and I were chatting in the cockpit and she said, look is that another fishing boat. On closer investigation, it was, about 150 metres off, but low in the water, through the binoculars we could see she was awash. No sign of any people on board or in the water, nor any life rafts etc. We didn't want to go closer, since who knows what debris there could be that would be a hazard to us. We logged this with the relevant Rescue Co-ordination centres, who advised a log number, but no investigation, it happens a lot!
Just now, midnight here, on our watch change, Stella to me, advised fishing boat to port, I conned it, then 5 mins later noticed to starboard a red, green and white flashing light, going quickly east, then another to starboard and a white iso phase light. Thought? Net, long lines? Maybe but probably skiffs from the mothership, we've seen them previously. But interesting to see such small boats maybe two miles from their mothership, at night!
That's all for now,
Cheers
John
