DAY 10 ARC WWEDNESDAY 2/12/15

On night watch at the moment now 00:52:16. At last we are heading west again and picked up the wind, we are creaming along!! The good thing is that we have not used our engine at all yet and hope not do so. Not so sure about the Halburg Rassy in front of us now, she seemed to manage to head south in light winds quite fast and has over taken us so not really convinced she hasn’t used her engines. We will find out in due course.
Now we are heading west with good winds averaging 16 - 20 knots. We had both the genoa, staysail and main up all day. Now the wind is stronger so we have rolled in the staysail and still averaging between 8 - 10 knots of speed. Lots of weed appearing in the water so this makes fishing difficult and the fact we have now become a bit more competitive so the lines have not been out today.

Weather beautiful with not too many squalls, air temperature 29c and sea temp 28c. We are now living in shorts and costumes.

The night before last the cauliflower needed cooking, so I did lamb chops, sweet potato chips (not so successful in a yacht oven as they did not crisp) and cauliflower with a white sauce.
Tonight I did breast of duck (our local farm shop) marinated in balsamic vinegar, skin side up then cooked on the griddle and made a plum sauce made with a little brown sugar, three star anise and mashed up to make a thick sauce to go with it green beans and new potatoes.

All well on board banter and conversation remains very good.
