Shelena - Start for ARC + to St Lucia

18th November at 0230 UTC

We have had a fantastic first 12 hours with winds at 20 - 24 knots,
originally from the east to east south east. Preparation for leaving was
frantic even though we thought we were prepared. The reality is that 930
miles sailed to Sao Vicente claimed two lost screws to our genoa furler, one
broken rail fastener and a ripped cruising chute. Priority 1 was to get the
sailing chute repaired if at all possible. Success, it was retuned to
Shelena just last night. We look forward to the opportunity to fly it. The
sail is large for lighter winds so it remains in its cover for now.
Additionally, we needed to add fresh fruit and veg which all takes time. WE
walk everywhere!

WE enjoyed Sao Vicente's restaurants and the ARC+ entertainment, but were
ready to leave this morning ready for the 13000 start line. So here we are
now cruising comfortably at about 8 knots. The odd wave rolls us a little to
make it a little uncomfortable for sleeping but exhilarating at the helm!
WE have decided to do 3 hour watches from 2000 to 0800 to cover the hours of
darkness. Byr for now. I will join David who has just gone on watch before
getting some sleep.

Love to all at home,
Phil
