Crazy Horse - Day 4

Well, This is May 12th Bill and my 41st anniversary of marriage! How appropriate that we should be celebrating this occasion on Crazy Horse. The Crazy Horse Saloon in Washington,D.C. is where Bill and I met , hence the name of the boat. How sweet of him to leave me a happy anniversary note on the top of our position and captains log. So when I come on watch at 4am ....he always remembers better than me! I am blessed to have so many adventures with this man and such great kids and grands.

Of course this is all the day after we had a huge disagreement over how we had the accidental jibe, broke the preventer cleat and of course we had too much sail out for the winds and crazy waves. After all that, everything was repaired, no one was hurt and apologies were accepted. So you see the topsy turvy sailing life is just the same as life in general. Filled with ups and downs.

Just let me say this one more thing- never mind!

So we had a comfort meal last night after a day of 25-30kt winds and waves pushing us all over the place. It was a chicken and mashed potatoes and peas kinda day. Great! Today is much calmer with a gentle rocking motion and boat speeds from 7 to 10 . We were flying along yesterday but the waves slowed us down by knocking us off the rhumb line. Matt got some great videos with the GoPro camera and I got some photos of him taking them. He wants to put them on youtube when we get home. You really get the sensation of the speed but not the height or depth of the waves.

We are heading past Cuba now and 137 miles from the Old Bahama channel. There are lots of ships going through and it is only 8 miles wide. This should be another exciting day with me always getting the close calls with the ships. But they have all been very friendly and accommodating about talking to us on the radio and usually moving around us. But of course there won't be so much room in the channel.

So I hope to get Matt or Bill to write something tomorrow so you can get their perspective.
