Helen - Day 15 - Indigo blue

Yesterday was a grey day and the Atlantic Ocean was as grey and uninviting as you have seen in the movies. Today we have sunshine and a brilliant indigo blue Ocean. Unfortunately there is no wind so we are using the engine for a while.

The sea temperature is 34.6 degrees centigrade, nearly warm enough for a bath! There are small areas of sea weed, otherwise it is crystal clear. It will be interesting to hear about the water samples that we are taking to assess the degree of pollution from plastics.

Whilst talking about the environment, we are proud of our re-cycling on board. Only food waste goes into the Ocean and with very hungry sailors, there is not much of that. We are re-cycling all plastics (washed), cans (crushed), bottles ( empty) and paper (read).

We are currently just over 400 miles from the end of our voyage and our ETA is 2am on Thursday morning. Can we find some more speed to arrive before closing time?

Philip
