World ARC fleet depart Fiji

07 July 2018

Under sunny skies and glorious Fijian weather the World ARC fleet slip their lines at Musket Cove Marina and begin the 450 nautical mile journey to the island of Tanna in Vanuatu.

As the fleet approached the start line of Leg 6, the wind speed was 15+ knots SSE and the waters crystal clear in layered colours of blue.

With just a few minutes until the 10:30 start, a number of boats were jockeying for position. Congratulations to Shepherd Moon for crossing the line first, followed closely by Christine, and third by Aranui, an X Yacht in the Open Division who still shows competitive spirit on every start line.

Pat, the Musket Cove Marina Manager, skippered the committee vessel which had aboard World Cruising Club Rally Control. Yachts Alora and Icebear, who will remain cruising in Fiji and later sail on to New Zealand, came out as well to cheer on their friends and show support on the start line.

“Vinaka” to everyone at Musket Cove Yacht Club for the amazing hospitality.
