Rendezvous in Paradise

Since arriving in the San Blas on Thursday the World ARC fleet have been enjoying many of the beautiful islands with idyllic white sandy beaches and shaded areas with palm trees within the San Blas archipelago.

On Sunday the fleet came together for a World ARC Rendezvous on the island of Chichime, an special island with two safe anchorages, deep beaches and inhabited by four families of Kunas who run a small restaurant ashore. The chief of the family is Humberto, a proud exponent of the Kuna Yala culture, and has been welcoming the World ARC fleets since 2010.

As crews came ashore by dinghy for a pot luck lunch, they were welcomed with fresh coconuts. In the afternoon, a group of Kuna Indians provided music and traditional dancing to entertain their visitors, dressed in bright clothing adorned in more brightly coloured appliqued fabrics known as molas.

Many crews commented that the performance was very calming, peaceful and enjoyable. Peter from Carango commented "Great day and great fun. Thanks for organizing that, we really enjoyed San Blas!"

All the boats have now cleared out from this paradise and are heading to Shelter Bay Marina for full preparations before their Canal transits.
