Faraway - Faraway log 7, N 26.11.23 W 23.09.09, 23 November 2016

We continue to make great process. We sailed almost 340 NM during the past 48 hours. Much faster than we expected. Since we are not racing and have no intentions to be fast, it was a surprise to see that we are 5th in our division and 48th overall. This could well change as we have gybed 3 hours ago. We are now heading south (COG 205) and hope to be NW of Cape Verde on Saturday. After that we hope to pick up the trade winds which are forecasted to develop over the weekend. The track south is tricky and we hope to avoid areas without wind. Last night was very tough. Wind in squalls reached 25 knots, waves were 3-4 meters high and it was pitch dark. This made steering straight very difficult and it was tyring.
We have just received a message from the rally office that 2 Jules Vernes Trophy trimarans are close to us (Banque Populaire and IDEC). We need to keep a close watch for them the coming night. We hope to see them!
Right now it is cloudy and raining. We hope to have clearer skies tonight. Let's see.....
