DAY 8 MONDAY, 30/11/15

We passed our half way mark at 11 am this morning, yacht time.

We certainly can tell we have headed further south, really warm now. We are trying to find the good trade winds south of 18.00, too many holes on the rhumb line.

Yesterday Jonathan decided to attempt to make some Maki, Japanese seaweed rolls, with some mahi mahi , cucumber, carrot and avocado. He nearly got there but the sticky rice didn’t quite work to hold it all together. We had both done a Sushi cookery course at Yo Sushi in Exeter so that we could use our raw fish in more interesting ways.

We have been flying the ‘pink panther’ all day but the wind is fickle and comes and go so our average has only been 5-6 knots with the odd 7-8 knots. We hope we will find better wind further south and regain our first place at the moment we are third which is frustrating.
We keep telling ourselves that we are only cruising but having been in first place the competition is getting the better of us.

Wash day again to day to do all the bunk sheets.

Because we have become more competitive we have not had the fishing lines out today as we want to keep the pink kite flying.
