Gozwoz - The case of the Ground Coffee

Today has been sunny and a steady f4/5 breeze from the south west over our starboard quarter has been pushing us towards our destination. It has been a glorious sail with little attention required by the sails and accompanied by bright sun and blue seas. Our Great Leader's study of the weather charts, GRIB files to the uninitiated, has led to the abandonment of the Great Circle route in favour of a foray to the north in the hope of keeping the present wind and avoiding north easterly winds on Sunday night. Fingers crossed it works out. There are a number of yachts in the rally even further north than ourselves but the only ones we have seen today were sailing towards the south. Obviously there are a umber of solutions to the weather conundrum.

The disaster of the day has been the discovery that the several tins of Maxwell House picked up by the Bosun in St George are ground coffee and not instant. We do not appear to have a cafetiere or anything similar. So far his resourcefulness has not gone beyond using a jug. The Navigator informs me that he is concerned that there will be a run on the tea bags and is considering adding some of the tea bags he flew out with to the stash under his berth. The fastest squid in the north Atlantic has again been deployed at the end of a very long line but the local fish either have better taste or cannot keep up with the squid. The alternative lure may be put into action tomorrow.
