Luna Quest - Wednesday, 25th March, 2015

Noon Position: 8.48S 132.10W

Daily run: 70 miles (but 105 measured miles)

Today marks the completion of a three-week period since the start from the Galapagos on March 4th. Our best ETA now for Hiva OA is Sunday, 29th March. Most of the boats are in. Just 5 are left to battle it out not to be the last. Most of us have given up motoring as there is not any wind further towards Hiva Oa to speak of.

Our electronic mile counter, which I cleaned yesterday in case of under registering, counted just 70 miles from noon to noon (all noon times are Galapagos times), but the measured distance on the chart gives 105 miles. Since the Galapagos we have gone 3.5 hours further into time, but the ship’s clock remains on Galapagos times by fleet agreement from the outset. Once we are in the Marquesas, we shall adopt the Marquesas time for the next leg.

Eric
