Galapagos we'll miss you!

01 March 2016

This is the final stage for the World ARC fleet in the Galapagos islands. After a fun time exploring San Cristobal, Isabela and Santa Cruz, the boats have begun to prepare for the longest leg of the rally route, across to the Marquesas islands of French Polynesia on Wednesday, March 2.

The islands offer much to see and do and a popular destination has proven to be Puerto Vilamil located on the largest of the islands, Isabela. Abundant in interesting wildlife and landscape. A long white sandy beach, iguanas, penguins, flamingos, tortoises and manta rays are just some of the attractions we can find in here and also a great welcome to the boats at the small and shelter anchorage.

After enjoying much of what the islands have to offer, the fleet has been ensemble in Puerto Ayora for almost a week to explore Santa Cruz but also for resupply gas, diesel, gasoline and water and provisioning in the local markets and stores in order to be ready to departure to Hiva Oa.

But these last days in Santa Cruz have not been only work! Yesterday evening, crews got together for the Prize Giving of leg 3 - Panama to Galapagos, at the Hernan CafĂ© and a Crew Supper at the Il Giardino Restaurant.
