The World ARC Pacific Programme in Colombia

These last days in Colombia participants have had time to organise their boats’ repairs and maintenance before starting to explore the city and enjoying Tayrona National Park and further afield.

City tours of Santa Marta were carried out on Friday and Saturday where participants got a bus through the city and stopped at Simon Bolivars’ house and were guided through ‘The Liberator’s’ life. They then continued to the Gold museum to understand about the four indigenes tribes’ culture and their own jurisdiction and walked through the streets ending up at the Parque de los Novios, not far from the marina.

Saturday evening was the Welcome Drinks hosted by Marina Santa Marta where the fleet enjoyed some drinks and finger food as the sun set creating a relaxed and very friendly environment.

The programme continues today with a visit to a non-governmental association FUNDEHUMAC ‘Step by Step Program’ which through art and studies aims to release children, woman and men from different kinds of abuse and gain back self-esteem. We can’t change the world, but we can make a difference!

As we build up to the Skippers briefing and prizegiving dinner on Tuesday, remains some time for crews to indulge in meals and tours before the start on Wednesday.
