The island tour has just left the marina with 50 of the crews in 2 buses set to see some of the delights of Tortola, the main island of the BVI group. One of the dangers of sailing to new places is that you get 'stuck' in the marina tinkering with things onboard and forget to see what is out there beyond the marina! The island tour will take around 4 hours and head to the top of the island and over to Cane Garden Bay, maybe time for a quick swim and then on to a rum distillery and other scenic spots. It is always a lot of fun and a lot of smiling faces will be back in time for a beach BBQ tonight.
Some of the early arrivals have taken the opportunity to sail around the BVI for a few days before the prizegiving on Friday evening, so we now have rally boats scattered from Jost Van Dyke to Virgin Gorda. They will all be back though for what is a fun evening celebrating everyone's achievement in completing the 1400 miles from Portsmouth, VA. There is a competitive element to the rally and we shall see after the handicaps, engine hours and rolling start times affect the results.
‘Forget Me Not’ is just 20 minutes away from the marina and will get a noisy welcome into their slip. That leaves just ‘RC Wings’ and ‘Passion Place’ to arrive and the whole fleet will be in
