We have less than 450 miles to go and the captain is confident that we will cross the finish line on Thursday morning. The wind has arrived at last and we are having a fantastic sail.
I will be leaving Yacht Helen in St Lucia and I will be looking for a berth to take me to the Galapagos. I don't know what route we will take but it will include a passage through the Panama Canal. I am looking forward to that.
I hope that we are able to stop at Guadalupe for a couple of reasons. Firstly there is a large colony of Iguanas on the island of La Desirade and it will be good to catch up with some close relatives.
I also hope to go to the island of St Marie near Guadalupe. I have a cousin there. His name is Henry and he is a lizard who lives with a nice English policeman by the beach.
The captain says that he will be heading up to Antigua and will be leaving Yacht Helen there after cruising the Caribbean . Those kind sailors at PYD will then sail her to Ipswich so that the captain can go on to the Pacific.
He is going on a ship from Auckland to Norfolk Island, through the islands of Vanuatu and on to the Solomon Islands, ending in Papua New Guinea.
He also hopes to be in the Galapagos by September when I will be there. It will be great to catch up again.
