Neverland - Neverland Leg 2 - Days 5 & 6

Mr Marlin came back. Thankfully not to pick off another lure (he’s obviously more intelligent than that). Instead he swam in our wake, then darting under, circling us and returning to our wake. We apologised profusely for the altercation the previous night. He didn’t seem the vengeful type and after strutting his stuff for 20 minutes disappeared. We haven’t seen him since and are hopeful he has called off the heavies.

Since leaving Sao Vicente we haven't had more than 15 knots of wind since and that was only for 5 minutes when we went through a tiny squall. For most of the time we have had between 8 and 12 knots so our progress is slower than we’d hoped. Having thought we would arrive around 30th November it is now far more likely to be at some point on 3rd December. Urgh. We’ll have to wait a little bit longer for that rum punch.

I thought we might actually all lose a little bit of weight as a result of cutting beer and wine from our diets for 2 (and a bit) weeks. Not so given that we have substituted both for various chocolate bars and a variety of chocolate biscuits. We’ve run out of fresh fruit which we’ve substituted for Cadburys fruit and nut. We do still have green bananas which from the looks of them are going to remain green forever…

Apart from a lack of wind (and now fruit) our journey so far has been brilliant made even more so by the fresh fish Tom and Dad have been catching. Tom and Dad finally caught the Dorado they have been after since we left Las Palmas. Of all the fish they have caught it was the most beautiful fish and as they were reeling it in I felt really sad and even suggested they let it go. Apparently a ridiculous request and so I took myself down into the saloon while they dispatched the unlucky Dorado. It was at this point that the new environmentalist in me decided I would become a vegetarian...until Tom made ceviche. I was really hungry after all my chocolate bars so I just HAD to eat it. I'm not a vegetarian anymore. I really have very little will power when it comes to my stomach.
