NoStress - Log Day 2 - Heading West

What followed last night's journal entry was long night on rolling seas with light winds. People found it difficult to settle and sleep was sparse and fitful for most of the crew.  Checking the Yellow Brick race tracker at the bottom of Gran Canaria it was clear that a number of different strategies were emerging across the fleet.  NoStress decided to head north and chase the stiffer breeze that had been predicted - current reports have us at 24 miles behind the leader of our class so we've yet to see if this strategy will pay off.

The reward for a night at sea was the start of a beautiful day (see pictures) with blue skies, fair seas and a good sailing breeze.  A day of maintenance and other routine tasks followed and, as conditions were relatively smooth, yet more meals were prepared for easy re-heating for when the seas might be less tranquil.  There was a little downtime this afternoon and the chess board even made an appearance.  People have also been diligent about resting up ready for the night watches ahead and there's a feeling that the journey is fully underway now we've been on passage for over 24 hours.

So our second day has been relatively quiet on board, but I don't hear anyone complaining about that with just over two weeks and 2,500 miles to go.

Take care, and thanks for reading,

Alex, Nick, Claire, Des, Paul, & Jake
