Timshel - St Lucia to Santa Marta Day 1

Distance run noon to noon: 122.3NM

In fact this is distance made good by GPS not distance through the water as the log has stopped working (again!). Fine when we went into the marina, not now. After a hectic week getting the boat ready (made more so by the failure of an important piece of plumbing luckily the chandlery had one in stock) and the great socials meeting our fellow crews, it was good to get to the start line yesterday. The start is always exciting with everyone together, but after 24 hours we are rolling peacefully along in a world of our own, no-one else even in AIS range. Surprisingly in the last set of position reports we were not last, but we probably are now. There was a lovely moon for the first part of our first night at sea, a rain squall later had us reef the yankee right down.

Looking forward to the next SSB net, most people managed to make themselves heard this morning.
