Mustique - Day 14 -

Hi every one out there!

We have now started our decent going South towards St. Lucia - app 750 NM to go.
Cannot believe that today is two weeks since we waved good bye to our fan group in Las Palmas including Sue and Annika, wives of the “Gatwick Boys”.

Lots of things happening on board but after two weeks happenings become routines. Being on watch, having a nap, preparing the boat for night sail, having lunch and dinner and not least joking and telling stories with and to each other.

Liv is at present top favourite to win the ARC’s most read books in 2700 NM competition. Chef Gordon to win the ARC’s chef’s completion in St. Lucia and “Mustique” the ARC price for outstanding crew spirit and performance. CPT Fin definitely a candidate to win the prize for spending most hours evaluating weather forecasts.

David continues to fish and with luck from time to time. Caught a small dorado the other morning. Big enough for the Chef to prepare an excellent sashimi lunch, garnished with some lemon juice. A little too much as per some including the chef. He excused himself though by saying that he was out of mint leaves in stock. If that is our biggest problem at present , you may say but ……..

After several cups of coffee yesterday morning Stef woke up and noticed that we had suffered damage to the outhaul on the main sail, making it useless for the remaining 900 NM. Normally David turns wrecks into Rolls Royces in few days so the job to repair was his! Sitting on the boom while using the parasail at 10 knots David drilled, screwed, gave orders and managed to repair within some hours only interrupted by a tea with no sugar.

No wonder Mark was tired after the repair work. He stood holding himself to the mast but stabilising his singer mate’s two feet on his shoulders. The whole repair operation was so dangerous that not even Lloyds would make an insurance policy for it and that Yuki closed her eyes for several hours.

Last night another dorado fish caught just before dinner time. Brought to the boat. app 50 centimetres long as per a non fisherman’s eyes, very colourful Looked so cute but the Chef said it was too small for dinner and we let it go back to the sea hoping to catch one of the parents or elder sister today. (I believer the Chef’s decision was made due to that he had just spent hours in making Lasagne with salad ready to be served. Was very tasty and we were awarded a glass of read wine with the meal. However, it turned up that the cork had hit the wine! One bottle out of six on stock wasted!

Having not seen boats for days this has changed. Was contacted on the radio by a boat that begged to buy 40 litres of diesel as she had ran out. Unfortunately unable to sell as we only accept cash and he had credit cards only. This morning contacted by an Italian boat within few miles. She was heading for Bermuda and just wanted to hear about our well being and to wish us Merry Christmas.

Today is Sunday . Tom has dressed up in very colourful shorts. He and Liv are ready to change watch with the Gatwick Boys. Why? Apparently the hard repair work yesterday had a bad influence on David’s voice and it needs to rest. carol and i wii continue on the dog’s watch which includes to wake up Stef with cups of coffee. When awake it is yet to be seen whether he and I will continue to speak English with a very Asian accent - with lots of comments from Carol to follow.

Ship ohoi and Tadah
Have a great day - we will

Anders!
