Ximera - Day 9 - Better than fireworks!

15∞28.45 N - 24∞58.89 W --> 14∞10.12 N - 27∞30.48 W

And other sea-life phenomena is ... Dolphins swimming in the night.

From the helm in the aft we can see lots of luminescent dolphins' tracks. After a while these tracks starts to indicate the bow, so we understand that we're invited to the 'bright dolphin' show.

'Click', we unlock our lifelines from the cockpit jackstay, 'clack', we lock it on the jackstay.

Six dolphins are playng with us. In the silent darkness ocean sealife is better visible than in the daylight. The dolphin's tracks are all around, tens of metres of luminescent tracks. Tracks that follow and cross at a distance of centimeters from one and each other and from the bow of the boat.

When a dolphin slows down, the track is less bright, shorter but wider; when a dolphin accelerates, the track becomes thinner, more intense and longer; when a dolphin jumps, we can hear its breath immediately before and then an explosion of fluorescence engraves our minds.

We are sitting at the bow witnessing this natural fireworks, the solidarity dance of elements, all at one in this spectacle. A permanent present from the sea for our lives.

Compared to this, 'all the other things are boring', as Tonino Carotone would say. We're heading West, wind speed is not as much as expected for our last week 'go south' attitude, sails frequently flap on the waves, Jenny the gennaker is poled out on the windward side of the boat, the mid-ocean current is against us on average half a knot, sea-bucket showers are our companion.
