White Satin - Party time & Graffiti

Thursday 17th November

We now have less than 72 hours to departure and everybody is working and
playing hard.
Last night was the fancy dress party with a theme of Eternal Spring/Flower
Power; the vast majority of people joined in with the fun and there were
some amazing costumes. People interpreted the theme in their own way from
producing Spring Chickens, American Astronauts, lots of long hair,
headbands, inflatable guitars and psycadellic outfits. Our boat is a Moody,
hence the name 'White Satin' so one of today's photos is of our fancy dress
effort, in PJs for 'Nights in White Satin' - the DJ even played the track
for us, which was greatly appreciated.

This morning there was such a buzz along the pontoon, there are a lot of
people living in very close proximity to each other. There were skippers
doing safety briefings, some newly-formed crews going out for a practice
sail, some up the mast and others putting anti-chaffing patches on sails -
all this whilst the supermarkets are trying to deliver provisions. There is
a happy babble of people calling to each other, laughter and chat,
occasionally drowned out by drills and banging.

Meanwhile, we have decided to send in two photos today, the second one being
of David's art work - he has again used the design he created for the boat T
shirts. Those of you who followed our travels in the summer will remember
that we left our mark in Funchal; there is a similar area along the wall
here in Las Palmas, where visiting yachtsmen can leave some graffiti with
their boat name on. He did manage to get red paint all over his shorts
which now look as though he has had a fight with a chainsaw (and in fact in
the photo it looks as though he only has one leg) but he is in fact,
absolutely fine.

Party times.
