Timshel - Cape Verde to St Lucia Day 8

Lovely afternoon for sailing/sun bathing but slow - we had got used to making speeds of 7 kts plus, so only 5 is a comedown. And we saw another boat! The AIS got excited, most of the time it's been asleep, and there was Lea off to port. We had a chat on the VHF, don't think they've seen anyone recently ether and they don't have SSB, but she overhauled us rather quickly I am afraid, with her big genoa poled out. Steve left me a small glass of Limoncello and chocolate for my first watch of the night to celebrate 1000 miles to go. Early morning I thought dark clouds might mean rain (and possibly wind), I got the buckets ready to collect but we only got a couple of drops. Gybed back onto starboard at midday to head back to the rhumb line. Have looked at Great Circles, in fact our chartplotter does them which is clever of it, but it makes little difference for this trip. Steve has been practising sun sights but has not been able to do a compass check with the bearing of the setting sun, as there always seems to be cloud on the horizon.
