Gozwoz - Day 12 from Bermuda

"It's floppy but it has doubled in size" observed the Navigator to Roger. What was he innocently referring to? For an answer see below.
The wind having subsided yesterday evening we motored for a few hours during the night but sailed as much as we could to conserve fuel. We have calculated that we have about 60 hours of motoring left, still requiring a day or two of solid sailing to complete the voyage to Horta. The wind we have is light but when it is blowing we make good progress in the calm sea. The Bosun of course ensures that at all times the sails are perfectly trimmed. We have worked out various ETAs depending on the speed we optimistically expect to maintain but our plans are invariably dashed by a loss of speed due to the wind slowing or dying. At present we are looking at Thursday night (5 knots) or Friday morning (4.5 knots) but earlier or later are possible.
We are confident that we will not require more fuel to get us to Horta which means we will not need to stop at Flores. We have heard that our friends on Sophie will be stopping there. A few days ago we heard that Kristel from Sophie, who we take to be a little older than the Navigator, has had to dive to remove a rope from the propellor and a bag from around the rudder, a task which required two young and fit men on Gozwoz for a similar problem. Go Kristel!
The bread we brought out from Bermuda ran out at breakfast and it fell to the Navigator to make more using the packets of bread mix he had brought out. The dough did not so much rise as spread sideways, leading to the opening observation above. The resulting loaf, however, mat with the crew's approval.
The minnow has had a long but unsuccessful day and is about to be retrieved. Despite today's lack of success confidence in him remains high. In consequence we are looking forward to the Coxswains long planned fish pie.
