DreamCatcher - Leg 2 - 1st Dec

With only some 250 nm to go, it's rather reassuring to find some old favourites popping onto on our AIS screen- Lily, Roxana, Zera and Lady Pep. After 1800 miles apart we are within 20 or so, of each other.

All good, aboard the good ship DreamCatcher. After the Parasailor issue, and the winds fell light again, we broke out the cruising chute. It is dated 1998, and the previous owner told me it was for a smaller boat, but had hardly been used. It looks it - a bit dirty and musty, but it's in good shape and is a welcome sight with it's bright and cheerful red, white, and blue colours.

Sadly, though, it too went through the wars when a nasty squall wrapped it very tightly around the forestay the other night, accompanied by driving rain and 30 knot gusts. It survived, but with a few holes in the lower panels, after the boat was turned several times around on the spot, this way and that, to help the wind untangle it. It took real team work, with Edd hand steering on the helm, David and Josh on the foredeck physically encouraging the sail back on itself, with James assessing and advising and me on the winches. Even Maggie in the warm and dry saloon was doing her bit turning on the deck lights, providing torches, and so on. Great work, Guys!

Otherwise, the sailing is plain, the sun has been hot, the company exceptional, the supper is cooking, the sea temp some 33.6C and we pootle steadily along towards St Lucia.
