Pajarito - Day 12 - The Welcoming Committee

This morning at dawn, two sea gulls flew over to check us out. They circled several times, closely inspected, then scolded us for not having our fishing lines out. A little later, several dolphins joined us for breakfast. They swam along side keeping us on course. We must be close now, the welcoming committee is here!

All is good this morning. We have smooth (relatively speaking) sailing, cinnamon rolls, and coffee. Who could ask for anything better? Sure beats last night when Captain Bill was battling the elements over a bag of tater chips. The elements got the upper hand, and the contents of the bag became airborne, swirling around the cockpit like a blizzard. Bob and I had to turn our heads; we couldn't stand to see a grown man cry.

We're getting close enough to the tiki bar on Tortola that the men aboard have been brushing up on their pickup lines. Man, are they rusty! Here are the Pajarito crew's top five pickup lines for the tiki bar:

Number 5: Do you like your ginger ale on the rocks or straight up?
Number 4: What's your position? (Use this one with extreme caution)
Number 3: What's your wind direction and speed? (I don't know about you, but unless their wind is dead calm, I'm not going anywhere near)
Number 2: Is my patch still there?

and the Number 1 pickup line for the Pajarito crew: Can you help me adjust my crotch strap?

Well, there you have it. We've been out here far too long.

We've spotted a couple of other boats near us. The race to the finish is on! We plan on beating those scallywags! We went all out and shook out a reef. At these speeds, we'll be in port by daybreak.

Yours, looking forward to meeting the other welcoming committee at the tiki bar,

- the Pajarito crew, Captain Bill, Bob, and Deidre
