Dala - Am I a lucky man?

Hi, all,

I've always thought about myself that I was a lucky guy.
However, look at list of problems I ran into these last weeks:
Even before this crossing, after I sailed from Florida to the Bahamas and then to the British Virgin Islands, I had a series of repeated failures of my water maker, a sequence of stop-and-work-and-stop-again with my satellite communication system, a shower pump out of order, a fan stubbornly silent. And I certainly forgot a few unpleasant additional occurrences of that kind...
And since the start of that crossing, you already know if you read this blog. Short partial list reminder: We broke a batten (French: latte) and the headboard connector, together with a few mainsail cars (French: coulisseaux), experienced an overriding of the genoa sheet on the winch (French: surpattage), broke the mainsail halyard, had the code zero twisting itself on itself, etc... etc...
Can such a quantity and variety of problems happen to a lucky man?
Let's look at the situation from another perspective:
We didn't sink!
We didn't have any MOB (Man Over Board) event!
We didn't capsize!
we didn't have any fire on board!
We didn't have any flood on board!
We didn't ground on any rocks!
And so on.
In fact, we had no serious problem. On the contrary, we are peacefully sailing from a wonderful archipelago -Bermuda- to another very promising, the Azores.
We all feel good and healthy, not even any seasickness around!
And the more we are getting closer to the Azores, the more we are escorted by dolphins visibly happy to share our company!
So, I am not going to let a bunch of weak ropes and stupid failures spoil my inflexible and legendary optimism!
I told you I am a lucky man!

Bye for now,

Albert
