Morning Haze - Sailor Ted aboard Morning Haze (Day 3,4 and 5)

Hello family and friends,

Our 3rd day at sea was occupied making many sail changes. The wind was very inconsistent in strength and direction and we kept adjusting the sails, using the whisper pole, taking it down again...after all that work, David decided to modify the reefing system to make it simpler and more efficient on the crossing...we went from single to double line reefing.

Our 4th day at sea was great and I am happy to sail with Morning Haze as they love fishing...and me too! We caught two more Mahi-Mahi and we made ourselves a great dinner. As a bear I always thought that there was nothing like the taste of a good salmon...now I can confirm that's not exactly true and I must confess that Isabelle is a fantastic cook. In the afternoon I helped Rebecca and Demi taking water sample for the research project on the level of microplastic at sea. We followed scrupulously Edwin's and Marjo's ( from OCeanconservation.org.uk) advise on how to properly collect the samples. Rebecca will do her school research paper on this particular issue...Did you know she always wanted to become a marine biologist? Interesting....

Yesterday, after a VHF discussion on weather with the crew of Cloud 9 of Kingswear (remember...we lost our weather software on the 2nd day!), we decided to head west and sail together to avoid going south too soon. It turned out to be 'beating into the wind' with two reefs in the main and the staysail...Rock and Roll!!! I had to take some sea sickness medication to avoid being sick...Also I forgot to bring books to read on the crossing but fortunatly Demi has a lot (so I could borrow one) and we all spent the better part of the afternoon reading together in the cockpit. I am happy to report that everybody is fine on board and my french is coming along nicely...Bonsoir et à demain!

Sailor Ted aboard Morning Haze, stand by on 16!
