Ballytrim - day 4

My last entry for a while - enjoy. Written at 1700 -4 UTC

Its been a frustrating 20 hours or so since last reporting.

As expected last night ended up being a lot of motoring, as there was precious little wind, but by 0200 we were back on it, making 6, 7, even 8 knots when the wind picked up and we had a smooth sea so no problems doing a little surfing.

A good morning was had and spirits are high, as we can see an end approaching with the likelihood of a very favourable result - we hope.

But now its pay back big time...... Since 1500 hours its been wind on the nose and building with short sharp ( those horrid sort of bashing into) seas...... Not so nice!! For those who might not realise, when a yacht wants to head into the wind, it can't - and must sail at an angle to the wind to achieve forward momentum and make best progress toward the wind and your objective: at the moment our objective is dead up wind, (almost due North of our position) but we hope the wind will change soon to allow us to make our way to Bermuda (107 miles) without tacking all the way.

It does seem that tonight will be hard earn't miles fighting against the waves and the wind to reach our destination - all the time spent heeled over to an angle of about 25 degrees......

This means preparing the meal, completing the navigation, steering the boat, having a pee - and writing this report are all made at a rather uncomfortable angle....... So Im off no more from me until the finish.
Wish us well. We are having fun and I am 'being gentle with your Husband Mrs C, honest!!
