Idea of London - VQ Ocean Team Update 2

VQ Ocean Team Update 2. Great day slightly overcast with boat reaching 24 knots at one point while Lucas at the helm. This came after an interesting night helming for Tom who was all over the place as he got wind/direction display confused. Almac on the bow spotted large shape below the surface which swam under the boat - a WHALE! and fast. It stayed with us for about 10 minutes - amazing to see such a large form speeding alongside us as a light grey shadow - didn't quite get our Tom Hanks eye to eye moment but  still left everyone on the boat in good spirits. Ig was last of the crew today to get his duck in the heads although any camaraderie at his success after such a long period constipated ended when he threw the paper out of the hatch the wrong side and it landed in front of us in the pit!

With everyone dangling feet over the side to improve weight distribution there wasn't a lot of extracurricular activity til evening when the guitar came out and Ed attempted a bit of Monkees and American Pie - not sure how that ever
worked on the girls...and then unwisely taught Rupert a couple of chords who now thinks he is Buddy Holly. Ben's attempt at some flamenco music also faded with "name that 80s tune" unanimously more popular. We have been
expecting wind to drop as we punch through the low so may have a quieter day tomorrow before we can hopefully pick up stronger winds the other side which will take us all the way to St lucia. Warm chilli con carne in the bag for
dinner. Looking forward to another method of presentation for tuna for tomorrow and the end of our fresh veg (tomatoes).

Highlight of the day - we found some walnuts and almonds to snack on. With the temperature rising the
boat is now stifling below deck though Ru has kindly changed into his second and last shirt of the journey. Solid hair and stubble (Coops a little less) all round.
