Ula - Day 3 - 26th November

A breakfast change to the main (reefed) and genoa – heading SW on a broad reach. This becomes a beam reach by lunchtime and by mid afternoon we are close hauled as the wind veers around.

The water maker has been causing problems but, for the moment at least, has been nursed back into life by our “engineering department”. (Paul and Anthony).

Resisting the temptation to indulge in ones personal stash of nibbles becomes a battle of self-will which must be won, there are no supermarkets between here and St Lucia.!

Spotted a lone bird on the wing at lunchtime, which exceeds the number of boats we have seen today.

ARC reporting shows us in the top third of the pack. As we dive south to find the allusive trade winds most have already set course for the west. We will watch with interest the progress of the few brave souls who headed north from the Canaries  in search of stronger winds.

The temperatures today have hardly allowed us to shed the comfort of our fleeces and as darkness falls full length trousers are replacing shorts.
