La Rochelle - half way la rochelle

La Rochelle and crew celebrate their halfway mark with a delightful dinner. Tonight's fare consisted of tender seared sirloin of pork served in an apricot and black pepper jus with French beans and baby new potatoes.....followed by fresh pineapple set in a watermelon gelatine topped with creme freche and a smattering of dark chocolate.......culinary delights abound......and satisfied crew all round....Nigella eat your heart out . For those uneducated , meat and 3 veg followed by pineapple and jelly and a slab of chocolate.

Yesterday motored all day , breeze light and variable, but came across a patch of northerly at 10 knots, screamed along for a hour under main and asso at 7.5 knots , but it was short lived, breeze died out to bugger all.Stopped for lunch, again and took another dip in the warm pool, 27.8 degrees.
Came across a mad Russian trying to sail a 30 tonne ketch in four knots of wind, he was running low on fuel,he offered us one ak 47 for every 10 litres of fuel,we declined and gave him a forecast instead and continued on our way.

At sunset the breeze swung around to the nnw at around 5 knots, allowing us to motor sail under full main and sometimes the headie, as the breeze flicked north.

We are now hunting squalls not trying to avoid them, almost got one yesterday but petered out just as we got to it. Today the breeze should continue to go north and hopefully build a little , so we can give the iron maiden a well earned rest.

We are all now starting to think that the trade winds are all bullshit , and are used by the tourist operators as a lure to attract yachts to the Caribbean, hope we are wrong.
Less than a thousand miles to go , even the chartplotter likes it as it is now displaying a decimal point.
Cheers from all on La Rochelle
