Wind Dancer 36 - Log Entry 11-19-2011

After 6 days of very little wind and running the motor very slowly to conserve fuel, we now have more wind than we'd like. Feast or famine it seems. We now have 25 knot winds and 12 foot seas. Through the night we had 30 knot winds pretty consistently and a pretty rough ride. It makes it difficult to sleep, so everyone is pretty bushed.

The position report yesterday showed eight boats already at Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. I'm sure today's report will reveal many more boats at the finish. With our need to conserve fuel we ran very slowly while many others with much less of a fuel issue motored into the good wind the past few days. We expect now to sail the rest of the way as winds look pretty good ahead. I expect the next few days to be as rocky as the past two have been. It makes if very difficult to do anything productive other than sit without getting hurt.

We'll miss the party at the other end because we'll never make it in time, but we've brought our own champagne.

Fair winds
Dan, Sue, Bill and Barb
