Morning Star Log 3

Sun to Tues

Well Neptune sweemed to be unhappy with us. Winds remained below 10 kts and out of the southeast. That's the direction we need to go. We either tack back and forth in light winds or start the motor. Cptn decided on motor.

By Tues we had had enough of the engine. The noise became like white noise so we kind of got used to it but we keep waiting for the winds to improve. Hard to believe but the ocean was calm enough at times that you could water ski on it.

Tues 1045 first water tank empty of 4
Tues 1245 second water tank empty
Tues 1345 3rd water tank is empty!!

We have one tank left and it holds about 60 gallons. We stopped the engine to look for the leak and of course we found it. Couldn't have ask for a worse spot, behind the engine which is still very hot from running for days. Fortunately we have a watermaker but ...... we try to run it and it does not work.
So what else could go wrong?

Engine starts to revup which means it is starting to starve for fuel. Fuel tank #1 of 2 has run dry.
So, no wind, no water, about 1000 miles to go and 1 tank of fuel that's good for about 500 miles. Okay no more fresh water showers, cooking with wine instead, not bad.
Wed 0720 we are at the halfway mark.

Michael
