Cleone - CLEONE Leg 23C Day 3 - Better Stuff

Oh Joy, Less Current More Wind

And thank you for our Valentine's Day messages.

From about mid-night we started sailing properly; blessed silence with the engine switched off.  For some reason, the current seemed to ease at this point as well, so progress from then has been good.  Even so, our distance run from Noon to Noon (GMT) was only 108 miles.   But if this wind holds up, and the current keeps itself to itself, we could reach Recife before nightfall tomorrow.  Whether we can get into the Marina at that point is an open question.  In theory there will be enough water, but the for some reason, even for the smaller, shallower draft yachts, approach only at high-tide is advised!  So we will have to wait and see what transpires.

On the down-side, although Graham's cold is better and he's not been feeling too bright - maybe it is the different motion of Cleone bashing to windward.  The Skipper has had a relapse, too, and has sworn off all solids and liquids except water.  I wonder if he'll make it through the day without sustenance - bet he does not.

But best wishes to all of you.

James and Graham
