Day3 We had a night of squalls so a busy night reefing on Sunday night. The moon is waning and doesn't appear until the early hours so the first few night shifts are very dark. We are all settling down to a sort of routine, and Sofia, Per and I are feeling less queasy. Anna is a star and produces delicious meals even though it is sod's law that the sea becomes rougher as soon as she goes into the galley.

We are still flying along and did 163 miles yesterday despite having to reef during the night. We had to do a minor detour around some fishing tackle, a pole with a light on it and a couple of buoys and probably a tangle of nets or rope under the water. Amazing all this ocean and we nearly hit it. After a day of squalls we had a peaceful night and the sea calmed down a bit. A couple of ships in the day but only one tanker passed 2 miles behind us in the night- good practice reading the lights.

No radio contact today with any of the other yachts but Stefan thinks there are 4 behind or beside us. So we have caught up with the fleet. Stefan has been working on getting the bearing out to Panama and we are all optimistic he can get it fixed in Shelter Bay Marina, the Colon end of Panama. Plenty of flying fish and a few birds. This morning a Booby did a spectacular dive just beside the boat but too quick for Anna to catch on film. Small things become so exciting at sea; this afternoon a coastguard plane flew very low over us and dipped a wing and then came back and flew over us again. Per also spotted 2 fish swimming along beside us under the water. We think they are dorado who apparently mate for life. Anna has a very acute fish allergy so no fishing on this boat and actually it would be sad if we caught one of them and left the other to pine to death. We have done 172 miles today another record but Stefan is being irritated by a new squeak somewhere in the mast.
