Nexus - Past Half Way!

Yesterday evening we passed the half way point at 1500 miles, and currently have 1380mile to go! Nice downwind sailing, we put the small gennaker up 6 days ago and haven't had it down since. Winds have been variable but good at 15-20kt true from the aft quarter, so we've made good time. Its a bit lumpy with two sets of waves coming together where we are, which makes sleeping and showering a challenge, but not too bad. Had a visit from another bird last evening....1400miles from land! Lots of flying fish so there must be more down low to catch! The stars and planets are very bright at night after the moon sets and we are enjoying identifying them with our IPAD starfinder. Venus looked like an aircraft landing light on the horizon at 4am this morning! We can only hear two other boats at this point on the SSB, so we're not able to enjoy the sense of community the World ARC boats behind us are. I was able to speak with KATHEA last evening, 74 miles behind us, I can speak with ALPHARATZ and he's further away than the others. but not anyone else for a variety of reasons involving noisy installations or poor power output. Oddly, I could hear Charlie on CELEBRATE perfectly, and he's at the back of the fleet having left two days late! SSB is VooDoo...I"m going to have to get in touch with an RF engineer in Tahiti and see what else we can do to improve ours and help the others do the same. Meanwhile, all is well.
