Day 12 – Feeling hot, hot,
hot…
Welcome abroad the little world of
Ocean Escape for another instalment. Having seen no other vessels for three days
we operate our own alternate reality, content with the occasional company of
dolphins, storm petrels & boobies.
The temperature is soaring, the ocean
is changing colour - slowly edging towards turquoise, & we’ve done the
sweepstake for our arrival time – entries now closely guarded by Mike. We may
only be about half way but we definitely have the Caribbean on our minds!
Debates abound as to whether we should swim or drink beer/rum first when we
arrive – let’s face it, it’s going to be both!
Our creativity knows no bounds with
Peter’s excellent ‘Corned Beef Surprise’ for dinner last night & all sorts
of ideas around keeping awake on night watch… David has been witnessed inventing
boat circuits including push-ups & bench balancing, Jan is promising tall
stories (we’ve already had the snake slayer & Libyan arrest as tasters),
whilst Fab serenades us with Elton John & Kiki D’s ‘Don’t go Breaking my
Heart’ at 3am… Hmmm – I really am beginning to worry about that
boy!
Spinnaker training is going well -
& Matt has refrained from telling us to helm using our ears, cheeks &
feet for a few days – I’ll leave you all to ponder that one! So now we pray to
the wind Gods for a few more knots to speed us along.
