Today’s blog is dedicated for Carole. The crew sends you their nicest compliments, to you and your husband. When Brian is watching the stars he starts dreaming on you and his family, especially when watching the Venus,so questioning why he is in the middle of the Atlantic and not sitting comfortable with you in front of the fire place having a nice glass of wine together. Enjoy the time without him and have three glasses of wine, one for you, one for Brian and one for the rest of the crew. We are sure, that way it will become a nice evening.

The wind dropped down to below 10 knots, waves are now calm and long about 3 to 4 meter high. All is quiet. Too quiet; as a result our speed dropped down to somewhere between 3 and 5 knots. As it looks right now there will be no storm but lots of rain during the coming weekend. Looking into the forecast we hopefully will have some nicer wind begin of next week. Mileages are another story. May be there are some squalls they always require major activities on board, early but mostly reefing in a hurry. We reef early most of the times but just sometimes too late. We then are remembered how bad we stored all of our stuff, everything is flying and lying somewhere.

Paul forgot to tell us that he caught a fish, a flying fish, with his chest during his night shift yesterday. May be Paul should change to another brand of perfume. We both remembered the same happened to him during our last crossing, however he catched it with his face instead. You should know that these fishes smell very bad. Paul had to touch it to throw it over board. You should have seen his face, it did tell you everything. Brian was busy getting the rod out again. The last lure we lost when we secured Franz while he was hived up the mast. This time he chose one of our biggest lures. Today we did not catch any fish, we hope for tomorrow morning. It would be nice to work on the fish on the outer platform while the sea is calm.

We are still working on our power management. Currently we have enough fuel for additional 18 days. But who knows. One of the solutions is hand steering, this should be however our last option. Occasionally we heard some strange noise when the Gen is running; we will check the oil tomorrow at daytime and evaluate what is the source of that noise. We set up an excel file to record time power consumption more precise.

Lunch: Of cause our chef Franz surprised us again at lunch time. Beside his acrobatic capabilities he prepared finest crepes with fresh strawberries from today’s delivery.

Dinner: Original Hamburgers. You should know that Azzurra’s registered homeport is Hamburg. So this is always a traditional dinner, served with tomatoes, onions and as a special with French potatoes honey dipped.

The Domino Challenge Cup, where Great Britain is leading, will most probably continued during the forecasted non wind zone. If this would not be the ARC –Atlantic rally for Cruisers- we could have such a relaxed time.

On behalf of the green crew
Manfred
